Malga Glatsch, or Glatschalm, sits at around 1,900 metres at the foot of the Odle Group, within the Puez-Odle Nature Park. It is the kind of destination that pleases everyone: a short, undemanding walk gets you there, and once you arrive you enjoy an open view over the upper Val di Funes, with the opposite slope where Malga Gampen and Rifugio Genova stand. It is the classic spot to pause after the walk and savour traditional South Tyrolean mountain cooking — from freshly made dairy products to the day's hot dishes.
The most common route starts from the Zannes car park and climbs gently through the forest along trail number 36, taking around fifty minutes at a comfortable pace. The path is suitable for families and for those simply seeking peace and quiet, and lends itself to being extended into a round of the valley's farmhouses that also takes in the Geisleralm. The Puez-Odle pastures are the green heart of this corner of the Dolomites, a protected area where it is not uncommon to encounter grazing cattle and the typical alpine flora of the zone. In winter the same hut makes for a fine snowshoeing destination.
