A panoramic mountain dairy along the Adolf Munkel trail, renowned for its traditional South Tyrolean cuisine.
Malga Glatsch (Glatsch Alm) sits at around 1,900 metres along the celebrated Adolf Munkel trail, the path that runs beneath the walls of the Odle in Val di Funes. It stands close to the better-known Geisleralm, also called Rifugio delle Odle: together they are the classic stopping points on what locals call the "Odle cinema" — a reference to the sweeping panorama of spires that opens up around you. All around, lush meadows alternate with larch and spruce forests and the jagged outline of one of the most beloved mountain groups in the Dolomites, in a pastoral setting of rare beauty.
It is reached on foot along the Adolf Munkel, a scenic and fairly easy trail that crosses the northern flank of the Odle, generally starting from the car park at Zannes. The malga lives above all for its farmhouse South Tyrolean cuisine: home-cooked dishes, mountain cheeses, speck and pastries that have become part of the experience. There is no overnight accommodation, as its vocation is that of a gastronomic stop and rest point during the hike. It is therefore the perfect destination for a day of walking through meadows and forests, generally from early June until late autumn, snow permitting.
