A panoramic hut in the Cadini group, along the trails above Misurina.
Rifugio Città di Carpi stands at 2,110 metres on the southern side of the Cadini di Misurina group, in the Pian de la Musa, near Forcella Maraia, in the municipality of Auronzo di Cadore. Its position offers wide views over the Cadini spires and the surrounding peaks, in a high-altitude environment of great charm and relative tranquillity. It was built by the CAI section of Carpi — from which it takes its name — to mark the section's twenty-fifth anniversary and was inaugurated in 1970; it is dedicated to the memory of Captain Manfredo Tarabini Castellani of the Pieve di Cadore battalion. The atmosphere is the welcoming one typical of traditional Dolomite huts set among evocative rocky scenery.
It is reached on foot climbing from Misurina along CAI trail 116, of moderate difficulty, which winds through forest and pastures before opening onto the Cadini landscapes; those wishing to shorten the approach can ride the chairlift to Rifugio Col de Varda and continue from there. The kitchen serves typical traditional mountain dishes, ideal for restoring energy after the walk. With around twenty beds plus a winter room, the hut is a convenient base for staying overnight and exploring the trails of the group at leisure, catching the evening light on the spires when the daytime bustle has died down.
