A village in the middle of the valley, now part of the municipality of Sèn Jan, with the Buffaure cable car and the Alba springs.

A short history

Pozza di Fassa, Poza in Ladin, sits at 1,320 metres in the middle of the valley. Since 2018 it is no longer a municipality of its own: together with Vigo it forms the new municipality of Sèn Jan di Fassa, created by merging the two administrations.

The village keeps its Ladin core around the church and the old houses of wood and stone. In the nearby hamlet of Alba sulphurous waters rise, long put to use, at the origin of the baths that gave the village a tradition of resort life and cure.

Above Pozza the cable car rises to the Buffaure, a plateau of meadows and trails on the slope opposite the Catinaccio, with a wide view over the valley and the big massifs. It is a quiet and central base for getting around the whole of Fassa.

What to see

  • The Val San Nicolò, which opens just above the village, one of the finest side valleys in Fassa.
  • The Catinaccio and the enrosadira, the massif that dominates this stretch of valley and glows red at sunset.
  • The Buffaure cable car and the sulphurous waters of Alba, at the origin of the village's spa tradition.
