The great Ladin summer celebration in Canazei: costume parade, bands, folk groups and traditional Val di Fassa food.
The Gran Festa da d'Ist (the great summer festival) closes the warm season in Val di Fassa. In Canazei the Ladin people of the valley and the valleys around the Sella gather for a few days of music, tradition and local food under a large marquee.
The most awaited moment is the Sunday afternoon parade: hundreds of people, marching bands and folk groups walk through the village in traditional dress. After the parade the bands play together on the meadows and the folk groups perform their dances.
The festival is meant to be enjoyed freely: entry is open and you only pay for what you eat and drink, from local dishes to beverages. The detailed 2026 programme is usually published in August on the official Val di Fassa website.
