Strudel di mele (Apfelstrudel) is the most representative dessert of South Tyrol and the broader Alpine arc: an envelope of paper-thin pastry enclosing sliced apples, raisins, pine nuts, cinnamon and toasted breadcrumbs.
It is enjoyed warm, often accompanied by whipped cream or vanilla sauce, and can be found in every mountain hut and pastry shop across the Dolomite valleys.
