Snowshoeing in the Dolomites: snowshoe routes

Snowshoe routes on fresh snow, from easy walks to expert trails, through snowy valleys and woods.

Snowshoes are the easiest way to walk on fresh snow without sinking, and to see the Dolomites in winter away from the lifts. We've sorted the routes by difficulty. Some are easy walks along valley floors and through the woods, fine for families and beginners. Others are longer trails that climb to panoramic huts and alpine pastures.

One of the best-loved easy walks runs through Vallunga, the snowy side valley of Val Gardena. It's flat and sheltered. For each route we give the elevation gain, the time and the trail type, so you can match the day to your experience. In snow, always check the avalanche bulletin. Off the marked tracks, carry a transceiver, a shovel and a probe.
