Ski Mountaineering at Col de Locia: skinning in Alta Badia
A ski touring route for advanced beginners, with an ascent on open slopes and a descent in fresh snow. Experience required.

Ski touring routes for every level, with advice on safety, equipment and avalanche risk assessment.
Ski touring in the Dolomites combines the effort of climbing on skins with the freedom of off-piste descents, on slopes and couloirs that change face with every snowfall. Here we gather ski touring routes by level, from approachable outings for beginners to the more technical climbs for experienced ski tourers.
A classic for those starting out is the climb to Col de Locia in Alta Badia, with modest elevation gain and a spectacular setting. For each tour we note elevation gain, aspect and commitment. Ski touring moves through uncontrolled terrain: set off only with a transceiver, shovel and probe, study the avalanche bulletin and, without experience, hire a mountain guide.
