Ski Civetta is the largest ski area in the Veneto and the most fragmented in Dolomiti Superski: 72 km of slopes split between four villages and run by five companies. Alleghe sits on its lake, under the north-west face of Monte Civetta; Selva di Cadore is in the Val Fiorentina, between the Pelmo and the Civetta; Palafavera and Pecol lie in the Val di Zoldo, on the far side of the Passo Staulanza.
The four parts are joined by two ski links, Alleghe-Selva di Cadore and Alleghe-Palafavera-Val di Zoldo, which the consortium opens and closes separately: the lift bulletin says every day whether they are open, and sometimes one of them is not. That is the first thing to check if you plan to cross the area in a day.
The other thing Civetta has and the others do not is 5 km of floodlit slopes at Pecol, including the black Foppe. On 7 October 2026 the 2026/27 season dates were not yet published: we explain that below. The figures on this page come from official sources read on 7 October 2026.
Figures and altitudes
The consortium publishes 72 km of slopes, 23 lifts and 17 mountain huts. The 72 km match the Dolomiti Superski table; the lifts do not, because the consortium counts 23 and Dolomiti Superski 22. The difference is one entry in the Val di Zoldo (the Palma) that appears in the consortium's bulletin and not in the Dolomiti Superski winter list. The live counters on the Civetta site go up to 27 lifts and 48 slopes, because they include carpets and practice areas.
Altitudes are only published on the Dolomiti Superski piste map, which gives no range but marks the points: Alleghe at 979 m is the lowest base in the whole of Dolomiti Superski, Cima Fertazza at 2,101 m is the highest point of the area. In between are Piani di Pezzè at 1,470 m, where the first section of the Alleghe gondola arrives, the Col dei Baldi at 1,922 m, the Pescul-Fertazza chairlift base at 1,409 m, Pecol at 1,388 m and Palafavera at 1,520 m.
On snowmaking the Val di Zoldo consortium is explicit: coverage is guaranteed on every slope. What is not public is how many snow guns there are or how much water they use.
- Ski Civetta: 72 km of slopes, 23 lifts, 17 mountain huts
- Lowest point: Alleghe, 979 m. Highest: Cima Fertazza, 2,101 m
- Four villages: Alleghe, Selva di Cadore, Palafavera, Val di Zoldo (Pecol)
- Zoldo side: 35 km of slopes, linked to Alleghe and Selva di Cadore
- Snowmaking on every slope
The four villages and the two links
From Alleghe you go up with a two-section gondola, first to Piani di Pezzè and then to the Col dei Baldi: this is the sector with the most easy slopes, twelve out of nineteen. Here you find the Coldai, the Pelmo, the Roa Bianca, the Azzurra and the Fernazza, plus the only black run on this side, which is in fact called Nera. The seven lifts at Alleghe are run by Alleghe Funivie.
Selva di Cadore is the Fertazza sector: from the base station at Pescul, at 1,409 m, two chairlifts climb to Cima Fertazza at 2,101 m, from which the longest descent on this side comes down. This is also where the black Cima Fertazza sx is, and in the village the Santa Fosca practice area. The lifts belong to Valfiorentina.
Palafavera, at the Passo Staulanza, is the smallest sector: three lifts and four slopes, two easy and two intermediate. The Val di Zoldo with Pecol is the area's second hub: eight lifts, fourteen slopes and, according to the Zoldo consortium, 35 km of slopes linked to the other villages. Between Alleghe and Zoldo you cross on skis through Palafavera; between Alleghe and Selva di Cadore there is the second link. The consortium reports them separately in its lift bulletin, open or closed, and in the last update of the 2025/26 season Alleghe-Selva di Cadore was open and Alleghe-Palafavera-Zoldo was closed.
There used to be shuttles too, but the Civetta Ski Shuttle is listed as unavailable since the 2024-25 season, and the page has not been updated since. To move between the four villages today you need a car.
The slopes and who they suit
Dolomiti Superski lists 47 graded slopes: 24 easy, 19 intermediate, 4 difficult. It is the ski area with the highest share of easy slopes among those in the Veneto, and you notice it above all at Alleghe and Selva di Cadore.
The four black runs are the Nera at Alleghe, the Cima Fertazza sx at Selva di Cadore, and the Foppe and the Laghetto in the Val di Zoldo. The Foppe is the best known because it is also the night-skiing run and because, according to the consortium, it has hosted four editions of the women's World Cup.
The sector with the most intermediate slopes is the Val di Zoldo: Cristelin, Le Coste, Valgranda, Crep, Grava 2 and the Casot links. It is the sunniest side and, according to the Zoldo consortium, one of the snowiest areas of the Dolomites. At Alleghe the intermediates are the Coldai, the Lavadoi, the Civetta, the Ru de Porta and the Belamont 2; at Selva di Cadore the Fertazza, the Salere and the Bait.
- Alleghe (7 lifts): 12 easy slopes, 6 intermediate, 1 black
- Val di Zoldo-Pecol (8 lifts): 4 easy, 8 intermediate, 2 black
- Selva di Cadore (5 lifts): 6 easy, 3 intermediate, 1 black
- Palafavera (3 lifts): 2 easy, 2 intermediate
Night skiing at Pecol
Pecol, in the Val di Zoldo, is the only place in Civetta where you can also ski at night: five kilometres of floodlit slopes, the black Foppe and the red Cristelin. The consortium calls it the largest night-skiing facility in Europe. You reach the slopes above Pian del Crep with the 12-seat gondola; at the top the Pian del Crep refreshment point, at 1,764 m, stays open, and there is a ski rental shop at the base.
The published prices are last season's: 30 euro for adults, 23 for juniors born between 2008 and 2017, 18 for children born between 2018 and 2022, who go free if accompanied by a paying adult; 28 euro for adults with a ski club agreement, with a promotional Thursday at 25 euro. Multi-day and season passes, both Civetta and Dolomiti Superski, are valid for night skiing too.
The dates on the site are also last season's, 8 January to 14 March 2026, and the hours had not yet been announced. Before planning an evening it is worth looking for the update: within one winter both dates and prices can change.
Beginners, children and ski schools
For first days on skis there are three places, one per side. At Alleghe the Ally Farm - Dolomiti Family Park is a snow kindergarten for children from 3 to 14, open daily from 10 to 16. In the Val di Zoldo, Zoldoland - Ice Village is in the Palma area, at the lift base at the entrance to the village, with free access from 9 to 16.15. At Selva di Cadore the Santa Fosca practice area is in the centre, in a quiet, sunny spot, with ample parking, rental of skis, snowboards, bobs and sledges, the Baita al Sole hut and the Mignolo playground.
The ski schools of the area have 150 instructors between them, for skiing, snowboarding, telemark and cross-country, all members of the Italian ski school association, with lessons in Italian, English, German and, in some schools, Spanish and Slovenian. The Coldai school is based at Piani di Pezzè, two hundred metres to the left as you come off the Alleghe gondola.
One thing Civetta offers that you do not find elsewhere: on request, the Val Fiorentina ski school guides the Great War ski tour, the circuit that runs around the Col di Lana and crosses the positions of the Dolomite front. It is a Dolomiti Superski circuit, so you need the consortium pass, and it can also be started from Arabba.
Getting there, ski pass and season dates
From the Veneto plain you take the motorway towards Belluno, leave at Pian de Vedoia and climb towards Longarone: the Val di Zoldo is 36-37 km from the exit, about half an hour by car, and according to the Zoldo consortium it is one of the easiest resorts to reach in the Belluno area. For Alleghe you carry on instead through the Agordino and up to the lake. From the north and west you come over the passes: Alleghe from Arabba and Caprile, or from Cortina over the Passo di Giau or the Passo Staulanza, which in winter should be checked before setting off; Selva di Cadore sits on the road between the two passes.
For parking, the consortium publishes no list with capacities. The only official detail is the ample car park at the Santa Fosca practice area in Selva di Cadore. In the other villages the base stations are in the village or just outside it: at Alleghe on the lake, at Pecol on the square.
There are two ski passes: the Civetta one, valid in the ski area, and the Dolomiti Superski one, which you need to leave it and for the Great War tour. Civetta has day, multi-day and season passes, plus a morning pass valid from the opening of the lifts until 13.00 and an afternoon pass from 12.00 to closing, the latter sold only at the ticket desks. Prices are published by the consortium and by Dolomiti Superski and we do not repeat them here: the overview is in our Dolomiti Superski ski pass guide. If you bought valley passes in past years, from 15 October 2026 you can use the measures accepted by the competition authority.
There are five ski pass offices, one per lift company: the Consorzio Impianti a Fune Civetta at via Col di Lana 13/d, in the Caprile district of Alleghe, open 8 to 12 and 14 to 17; Alleghe Funivie at corso Venezia 3 in Alleghe; Val di Zoldo Funivie at piazza Rodolfo Balestra 1 in Pecol; Valfiorentina at Pescul in Selva di Cadore; Palafavera in the Palafavera district.
On the 2026/27 season dates, as of 7 October 2026, nothing has been published. The Dolomiti Superski table still shows the 2025/26 dates (29 November to 6 April), the Civetta website still carries last season's news, the lift bulletin stops at the end of March 2026 and the night-skiing dates are last winter's. No official source says when the new dates will come out, which is why this page does not give them. The dates already announced by the other ski areas are in our guide to the 2026/27 lift opening dates. One building site to keep an eye on: in the Dolomiti Superski summer table the Pecol-Pian del Crep gondola carries the note "summer 2026, gondola closed for replacement work", and that is the gondola serving the night-skiing slopes.
Frequently asked questions
How many kilometres of slopes does Ski Civetta have?
Seventy-two kilometres, as the Consorzio Impianti a Fune Civetta says and the Dolomiti Superski table confirms. On lifts the two sources disagree: the consortium counts 23, Dolomiti Superski 22. We use 23, the operator’s figure.
When does Ski Civetta open for the 2026/27 season?
As of 7 October 2026 it has not been published. The Dolomiti Superski table still shows the 2025/26 dates, 29 November to 6 April, and the consortium website is still on last season. No official source says when the new dates will come out, so we do not give them.
Are Alleghe, Selva di Cadore and the Val di Zoldo linked on skis?
Yes, by two links: Alleghe-Selva di Cadore and Alleghe-Palafavera-Val di Zoldo. The consortium opens and closes them separately and publishes their status in the lift bulletin: one may be open and the other not, so check before you cross the area.
Where can you ski at night in Civetta?
At Pecol, in the Val di Zoldo: five kilometres of floodlit slopes, the black Foppe and the red Cristelin, reached above Pian del Crep with the gondola. Multi-day and season passes, both Civetta and Dolomiti Superski, are valid for night skiing. Dates and hours need checking each season.
Is Civetta good for learning to ski?
Yes. Of the 47 graded slopes, 24 are easy, and almost all of them are at Alleghe and Selva di Cadore. There are three children’s areas: the Ally Farm at Alleghe (3-14 years, 10-16), Zoldoland in the Palma area of the Val di Zoldo (free access, 9-16.15) and the Santa Fosca practice area at Selva di Cadore.
What are the lowest and highest points of the ski area?
Alleghe, at 979 m, and Cima Fertazza, at 2,101 m, according to the Civetta piste map published by Dolomiti Superski. Alleghe is the lowest base station in the whole of Dolomiti Superski, which is why the snowmaking the consortium declares on every slope matters more here than elsewhere.
Where do you buy Civetta ski passes?
At five offices, one per lift company: the Consorzio Impianti a Fune Civetta in the Caprile district of Alleghe (8-12 and 14-17), Alleghe Funivie at corso Venezia in Alleghe, Val di Zoldo Funivie at Pecol, Valfiorentina at Pescul in Selva di Cadore and Palafavera in the Palafavera district.
