San Martino di Castrozza is the southern tip of Dolomiti Superski: it lies in Trentino, in the Primiero, under the walls of the Pale di San Martino. The ski area has four sectors, and three of them are not linked to each other on skis: the Carosello delle Malghe above the village, where the real skiing is; Colverde, where the Rosetta cable car starts; the Pra delle Nasse practice area; and the Passo Rolle, four kilometres away by road.
There are 60 km of slopes, mostly easy and intermediate. This is an area for families and intermediate skiers, with two black runs for anyone who wants to try: the Tognola 1 and the Paradiso at the Passo Rolle. If you want length, the Fantasia2000 runs 5 km from 2,345 m down to the lift base.
The 2026/27 season is announced from 28 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. The biggest change for the coming winter is on the Scandola-Conca side, where two chairlifts make way for a single six-seater. The figures on this page come from official sources read on 7 October 2026.
Figures and altitudes
Sixty kilometres of slopes: the tourist office says so and the Dolomiti Superski table by ski area confirms it, adding 24 lifts. In the 2024 ranking by the Skiresort portal the area won the "Top class" award in the category of resorts with up to 60 km of slopes and a commendation for slope preparation: small numbers, careful management.
The altitudes: the highest point of the ski area is Cima Tognola, 2,380 m, where the Cigolera chairlift arrives; the lowest is the base of the Tognola lifts at 1,411 m, on the edge of the village. The Dolomiti Superski piste map gives slightly different figures (2,383 m, and 1,467 m for the village): here we use the tourist office's.
The Passo Rolle is a separate sector at 1,984 m, and the tourist office says its season usually starts in late November and lasts more than five months. At the Passo Rolle you can also ski with the Val di Fiemme ski pass, not only with the valley pass or Dolomiti Superski.
- San Martino di Castrozza/Passo Rolle zone: 60 km of slopes, 24 lifts
- Lowest point: base of the Tognola lifts, 1,411 m. Highest: Cima Tognola, 2,380 m
- Four sectors: Carosello delle Malghe, Colverde, Pra delle Nasse, Passo Rolle
- 2026/27 season: 28 November 2026 to 4 April 2027
The four sectors
The Carosello delle Malghe is the main and only large sector. From the village the Tognola gondola climbs to 2,200 m at the Rifugio Tognola; from there the Cigolera chairlift reaches Cima Tognola, 2,380 m. The other way in is the Ces area, served by the 10-seat Colbricon Express gondola, and the Val Cigolera, with the Valcigolera gondola. Punta Ces is at 2,227 m. The tourist office sells the sector as a 45 km itinerary between mountain huts and dairy farms, with the food stops marked one by one.
Colverde is the sector of the Rosetta cable car, which climbs to the Pale plateau. No groomed runs come down from the top station: in the Dolomiti Superski list the sector has only the two Col Verde slopes, one intermediate and one easy. People go up to the Rosetta for the view or for ski touring, not for a run on piste.
Pra delle Nasse is the village practice area: two drag lifts, a carpet for first steps and the Nasse Park. The Passo Rolle, finally, is the highest and most panoramic sector, with the Castellazzo slopes, the Rolle runs, the Segantini, the Ferrari runs and the Cimon practice areas; this is also where the area's only other black run is, the Paradiso I. For now you can only get between San Martino and the Passo Rolle by car or ski bus.
- Carosello delle Malghe: Tognola, Colbricon Express and Valcigolera gondolas, Cigolera, Rododendro, Scandola, Conca and Coston chairlifts
- Colverde: Colverde gondola and Rosetta cable car, only two slopes
- Pra delle Nasse: two drag lifts, carpets and the Nasse Park
- Passo Rolle: Castellazzo, Paradiso, Cimon and Ferrari chairlifts, Rolle drag lift
The slopes worth looking for
The Fantasia2000 is the long run of the area: 5 km and 937 m of vertical, from 2,345 m down to the base of the Tognola lifts at 1,411 m. It is not a new slope but a line that joins Cima Tognola, Cigolera and Tognola Tre. The Cristiania, 1,980 m with 464 m of vertical, drops from Cima Tognola to Malga Valcigolera: it faces north, which is why it holds the snow even on warm days.
The Colbricon, 1,460 m with 405 m of vertical, is served by a detachable chairlift with a bubble and the tourist office calls it one of the most panoramic reds of the circuit. The Rekord, 1,350 m and 366 m, starts at the mid-station of the Coston chairlift and is the most technical of the reds. The Cigolera is short (778 m, 189 m of vertical) but linked with the Tognola Tre it becomes a descent of a thousand metres of vertical down to the village.
There are two black runs. The Tognola 1 is graded black on its steep section (1,040 m, 315 m of vertical) and red on the rest: in all it is almost three kilometres through the woods of the Alpe Tognola, facing the Pale, with a steep final stretch. The Paradiso I, at the Passo Rolle, is 1,030 m with 320 m of vertical. In total Dolomiti Superski lists 39 graded slopes in the zone: 20 easy, 17 intermediate, 2 difficult.
What is new in 2026/27 and the Passo Rolle link
For winter 2026/27 the building site is on the Scandola-Conca side of the Alpe Tognola: the two Conca and Scandola chairlifts are being replaced by a single six-seat detachable lift. Along with the lift come slope works, more snowmaking, a new link slope and a complete rebuild of the San Martino Snowpark. The tourist office puts the investment at over 16 million euro.
The bigger project, though, is the link between San Martino di Castrozza and the Passo Rolle: five stations, 10-seat gondolas, 1,650 m of length and 500 m of vertical, plus the new Panoramica slope and works on the SS50 road. The investment comes close to 55 million and full completion is expected in winter 2027/28. Until it is ready, the two sectors stay separate.
The other recent lifts the tourist office mentions are the Colbricon Express gondola, the Cigolera chairlift and the Valcigolera gondola, opened in the 2024/25 season. All the lifts in the ski area run on hydroelectric power produced locally.
Snow parks, beginners and the Carosello delle Malghe
The San Martino Snowpark sits on the Scandola slope, in the Tognola area: almost a kilometre long, in the sun all day, more than 40 features for every level, free access as long as you respect the rules posted at the entrance. It is an official Burton and Doors park and hosts one of the five Burton Progression Parks in Europe. In 2026/27 it is being rebuilt along with the lifts on that side.
The second park is the Rolle Railz Park, at the Passo Rolle, reached from the Castellazzo chairlift and in the sun all day. Careful: the tourist office page lists it as closed for the 2025/26 season, so check whether it reopens before heading there.
For learners there are three places: Pra delle Nasse in the village, with two drag lifts, carpets and the Nasse Park; the Baby Tognola higher up; and the Cimon and Ferrari practice areas at the Passo Rolle. The easy slopes of the Alpe Tognola (Rododendro, Conca, Scandola) are the next step. Confident skiers who want a quiet day can follow the Carosello delle Malghe, the 45 km itinerary between huts and dairy farms that the tourist office describes stop by stop.
Getting there, ski bus and ski pass
By car from Padua or Vicenza you take the Valsugana (SS47) to Cismon del Grappa, then the SS50bis to Arten and the SS50 towards the Primiero: about 130 km from Padua, 70 from Bassano. From Trento you follow the Valsugana and then the same road, about 110 km. From Bolzano leave the motorway at Egna-Ora and drive through Fiemme, Fassa and Predazzo, then over the Passo Rolle: about 70 km. By train you reach Feltre (30 km from the Primiero) or Borgo Valsugana and continue with Trentino Trasporti buses.
The ski bus is the way to move between villages and lifts: it is run jointly by the tourist office, the Comunità di Valle and the lift consortium, with stops in every village and times built around going to and coming back from the slopes. It is a paid service and is not included in the Trentino Guest Card, which is valid only on scheduled buses. The published fares (those of 2025/26) are 18 euro for the weekly card, 9 for under-18s, free up to 6 years with a paying parent, and 3 euro for a day ticket. Tickets are checked on board, with fines from 30 euro plus the price of the ticket. Some accommodation includes the ski bus in the stay: worth asking before you book.
The ski pass office is at via Passo Rolle 135. The valley pass covers San Martino and the Passo Rolle; at the Passo Rolle you can also come in with the Val di Fiemme pass. To leave the zone you need Dolomiti Superski: the overview is in our ski pass guide. Two rules apply on every slope: a helmet, for everyone and at any age since the 2025/26 season, and third-party liability insurance, compulsory since 1 January 2022 and not included in the ski pass.
