Obereggen and Latemar: one ski area across South Tyrol and Trentino

Obereggen Latemar, the lift company, gives 50 km of slopes and 18 lifts for Obereggen, Pampeago and Predazzo. The Latemar website gives the same 50 km, the Val di Fiemme tourist board more than 50 km and 18 lifts. In the Dolomiti Superski list there are 7 lifts at Obereggen, 8 at Pampeago and 3 at Predazzo.

The Latemar website splits the slopes by colour: 9 km of blue (10 runs), 33 km of red (22 runs) and 7 km of black (8 runs). That adds up to 49 km, one short of the stated total. The longest is the Tresca, 3.1 km; the steepest, according to the same site, is the Pala di Santa, 2.3 km.

No single altitude range is published for the area. In the Dolomiti Superski lift data the stations range from 1,540 m, at the bottom of the Ochsenweide gondola in Obereggen, to 2,401 m, at the top of the Plateau drag lift at Pampeago. The Predazzo gondola starts lower, at 1,050 m, and climbs to Gardonè, at 1,653 m, where the slopes begin.

Other sources give slightly different figures. The South Tyrol Open Data Hub, shown in the verified data box, has 48 km, 18 lifts and altitudes between 1,550 and 2,500 m; the piste map page on the Obereggen website also says 48 km. Dolomiti Superski places the whole Val di Fiemme/Obereggen zone between 860 and 2,388 m.

The slopes and who they suit

On the Obereggen side the longest runs are the Absam and the Oberholz, 2.75 km each, both red. The Maierl, also red, is the European Cup slalom slope. The blue runs are short and used for learning or getting around: the Eben practice slope, the Laner, the Toler (1.4 km), the Skiweg Reiterjoch, the Reiteralpe link and the Pampeago run.

Pampeago has the area's longest descents: the Tresca (3.1 km), the Agnello (2.55 km), the Pala di Santa (2.3 km), the Residenza (1.96 km) and the Val Todesca (1.85 km), all red. The black run is the Prà Erto (1.4 km), and a few short variants between 230 and 540 m are black too, such as the steep pitches on the Tresca, the Pala di Santa and the Agnello. Beginners have the Latemar practice slope, the Campanil and the Panoramica (1.4 km).

From Predazzo the gondola climbs to Gardonè and a chairlift continues towards the Passo Feudo. Here you find the Cinque Nazioni, a 2.65 km red, and the Torre di Pisa, a 1.55 km black; beginners have the Gardonè practice slope. Lengths and colours come from the slope list on the Obereggen website.

According to the Obereggen website, the lifts open at 8.30 am and staff close the slopes at 4.30 pm: after that the snow groomers come out, with steel cables at head height. In the evening you can ski the Obereggen slope, floodlit on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 to 10 pm for 1.6 km, riding back up on the eight-seater Ochsenweide gondola; on opening day, Friday 27 November 2026, the gondola stays open for night skiing. In Nova Ponente the village lift is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 10 pm.

Getting there and where to park

For Obereggen, leave the A22 at Bolzano Nord, turn towards Bolzano and after about half a kilometre, at the roundabout, take the SS 241 up Val d'Ega as far as Ponte Nova (Birchabruck). There, turn right and climb to Obereggen. The Latemar website reckons about 25 minutes from the motorway exit.

For Predazzo and Pampeago, leave the A22 at Egna/Ora and follow the SS 48 Dolomites road towards Cavalese; from Trento Nord you go through the Valle di Cembra instead. By bus, the SAD line Bolzano-Ora-Cavalese-Predazzo links the valley with Ora station. For Obereggen there are scheduled buses and taxis from Bolzano station, about 30 minutes.

According to the Latemar website, if you drive to Pampeago or Obereggen and cannot park near the lifts, a shuttle runs from the car park to the valley station. In Predazzo the Mezzavalle car park opened for the 2025/26 season, linked to the lifts by a shuttle. Ski buses in Val di Fiemme and Val d'Ega connect villages and lifts: in 2025/26 the Val d'Ega lines were Monte San Pietro-Nova Ponente-Obereggen and Ponte Nova-Ega-Obereggen. In mid-September the site still showed that season's timetables.

Ski pass

The pass you buy at Obereggen, even for one day, is the Val di Fiemme/Obereggen zone pass: it covers the whole of Ski Center Latemar, across Obereggen, Pampeago and Predazzo, and the other areas of the zone. According to the Val di Fiemme tourist board there are five: Latemar, Alpe Cermis, Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia, Passo Rolle and Passo Oclini, with more than 110 km of slopes in all; Dolomiti Superski says more than 120 km.

If you want to ski other valleys you have two options. The Valle Silver, for five or six consecutive days, covers 390 km across Val di Fiemme/Obereggen, Val di Fassa-Carezza, Alpe Lusia-San Pellegrino and San Martino di Castrozza-Passo Rolle, according to the Obereggen website. We do not list 2026/27 prices: in mid-September the Obereggen website still showed the 2025/26 ones. The Latemar website also points to the competition authority's decision on valley passes, explained on our page about refunds.

Beginners, children and snow parks

For children Obereggen has three areas: Brunoland, announced as new for winter 2026/27, the Yeti Park from age four, and the Schneehaus, a snow house where children practise their movements before going onto the slopes. There is also a mini club from age 3. Pampeago has the BIP Club; Predazzo has the Foresta dei Draghi, a themed family trail, and the Alpine Coaster Gardonè, a rail toboggan of about 1 km that also runs in winter.

The Obereggen snow park sits at 2,032 m: kickers, boxes, rails, a jib line, a boardercross, a banked slalom and one of the few halfpipes in Italy. Beginners have the Family Fun Line and the Kids Learn Park. Along the Obereggen slope there is also the Nightpark, 1,780 m long and floodlit in the evening. For winter 2026/27 the website also announces the new Latemar Fun Lines.

The Obereggen website counts three ski and snowboard schools and three children's parks. The blue runs in the previous section are the ones to start on.

Beyond downhill skiing

Sledging: Obereggen has two runs. The Obereggen run, 2.5 km, can be reached on foot or by the Ochsenweide gondola and is floodlit on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7 to 10 pm; the Absam run, 750 m, is served by the Laner Telemix. According to Visit Trentino there is one more at Pampeago and one at Predazzo. The wider picture is on our cross-country and sledging page.

Cross-country: the Obereggen website lists nearly 100 km of trails between Nova Ponente and the Passo Lavazè, at 1,800 m, from where the tracks continue towards Val di Fiemme. Snowshoeing: the Obereggen website suggests two easy walks. The first, about 3 hours, climbs to the Malga Epircher Laner on paths 11 and 10 and returns along the sledge run. The second, about 2 hours, starts from the upper car park in Obereggen, passes the Bewallerhof farm and follows path 9 to the Malga Häusler Sam, open at weekends. Links to other ski areas

The other areas of the Val di Fiemme/Obereggen zone, Alpe Cermis, Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia, Passo Rolle and Passo Oclini, have their own lifts elsewhere in the valley and take the same pass. To reach them you need a car or the ski bus, which the Val di Fiemme tourist board lists among its services for skiers.

The link with Carezza is a day circuit that the Val d'Ega tourist board calls the Latemar Ronda, and it works in both directions. Starting from Obereggen, you cross the Latemar to Predazzo, continue by bus towards Val di Fassa and by ski bus up to Passo Costalunga; from Nova Levante (Welschnofen) a ski bus takes you back to Obereggen.
